Mix Metal Oxide / Mix Metal Hydroxide

MMO (mixed-metal oxide) and MMH (mixed-metal hydroxide) are specialized water-based drilling fluid system typically composed of magnesium and aluminum oxides/hydroxides. The combination of these products creates a uniquely shear-thinning, highly thixotropic fluid.

This system is commonly used to mill casing and equipment in workover operations due to its high carrying capacity necessary to remove metal shavings. It is also used to mitigate seepage losses by controlling the loss rate due to the high thixotropy.
